Quantity Surveyor — Role Overview
You will serve as a senior commercial lead on a flagship data centre construction project, driving cost control, procurement strategy, and stakeholder engagement. This position carries genuine authority—managing multiple complex subcontract packages from tender through final account while providing commercial direction to the project delivery team.
Quantity Surveyor — Responsibilities
• Lead subcontractor procurement: develop tender packages, analyse submissions, negotiate terms, and execute subcontract orders
• Manage multiple subcontract packages from order through to final account, including remeasurement and claims resolution
• Maintain accurate monthly cost reporting and end-of-project projections in collaboration with site teams
• Develop and submit external valuations, engaging directly with client representatives to agree monthly values
• Negotiate and close out final accounts with subcontractors and clients in a timely, professional manner
• Submit claims and contractual notices in strict accordance with contract provisions
• Measure work packages from drawings and apply rates to develop package pricing
• Attend monthly commercial and subcontractor meetings, resolving disputes effectively
• Document cost changes to work scopes and maintain certification trackers for internal invoicing
• Provide commercial mentorship to junior team members
Quantity Surveyor — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• 7+ years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, with proven track record on major construction projects
• Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying
• Demonstrable expertise in subcontractor procurement, package management, and final account negotiation
• Strong technical skills: remeasurement, monthly valuations, cost reporting, and claims management
• Excellent organisational, communication, and time management capabilities
• Analytical proficiency with close attention to detail
• Results-focused mindset suited to fast-paced, delivery-centric environments
Desirable:
• Data Centre construction experience
• Previous work with Tier-1 contractors or EPC environments
