Quantity Surveyor — Role Overview

This is a hands-on commercial role managing multiple subcontract packages from procurement through to final account on complex data centre builds. You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and play a pivotal role in protecting project margins while mentoring junior commercial staff.

Quantity Surveyor — Responsibilities

You will:

• Procure key subcontract packages and critical project elements alongside the senior project team
• Generate quantified work packages, ITTs and budgets from technical documents, analysing and presenting tender returns
• Prepare and negotiate subcontract documents through to agreement
• Manage multiple subcontract packages commercially from order placement through monthly payments, variations, claims and final account
• Monitor costs and financial entitlement continuously across your packages and projects
• Engage actively with clients, subcontractors, designers and internal stakeholders
• Submit contractually compliant commercial documentation and develop external valuations for agreement
• Negotiate variations, omissions and final accounts with subcontractors and clients professionally and efficiently
• Produce regular cost/value and cash flow reporting
• Proactively resolve commercial conflicts and disputes
• Supervise and develop junior members of the commercial team

Quantity Surveyor — Ideal Candidate

Essential:
• Relevant degree with 5+ years' experience in main contracting and/or specialist contracting, with particular focus on mechanical and electrical works
• Strong technical understanding of MEP installations and processes
• Familiarity with various methods of measurement
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build strong business relationships
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent budgeting and financial forecasting skills

Desirable:
• Familiarity with Buildsoft, CostX or similar quantity surveying software
• Data centre construction experience
