Project Manager — Role Overview
This contract Project Manager role is crucial for ensuring the safe, timely, and on-budget delivery of projects. The successful candidate will manage various projects across multiple sites, ensuring adherence to health and safety requirements and project plans.
Project Manager — Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Preparing weekly and monthly progress reports, tracking project status, schedule performance, and costs.
- Maintaining a register of all projects and ensuring the status is always known.
- Delivering projects in line with health and safety requirements.
- Ensuring subcontractors are vetted and approved before use.
- Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with electrical safety rules.
- Guiding and assisting the project team, aligning expectations with project requirements.
- Carrying out routine inspections to confirm work is performed in line with the agreed scope and schedule.
- Ensuring schedules and milestones are in place, and subcontractor invoicing aligns with the schedule.
- Monitoring subcontractor resourcing to maintain the delivery schedule.
- Managing contract budgets and reporting on monthly status.
- Serving as the point of contact during significant events or technical escalations.
- Ensuring contractually agreed SLAs and KPIs are met.
- Implementing the project audit plan and driving closure of audit findings.
- Planning procurement and ensuring engineering meets deadlines.
- Reviewing the quality of output and fostering continuous improvement.
Project Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Project Management position.
- Professional project management qualifications or a trade qualification.
- Detailed understanding and experience of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre environment, including Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS Systems, Battery Banks, ATS/STS Units, PDU Units, Air Handling Units, Chilled Water Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, and Fire Suppression Systems (pre-action sprinklers).
- Understanding of associated safety code requirements.
- Experience in Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Control Measures.
- Experience in vendor management.
- Experience in Project Management principles & delivering DC project upgrade works.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent motivational and influencing skills, with high levels of personal integrity.
- Ability to communicate technical and business problems in a non-technical manner.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment.
- Willingness to travel and work abroad.
