Mechanical Project Manager — Role Overview
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the mechanical systems package. Your leadership will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Mechanical Project Manager — Responsibilities
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will:
- Manage the Mechanical Systems package.
- Manage Site Safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and the Safety Advisor, including setup, management, and closeout of the safety file.
- Lead a focused Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) culture within your team.
- Manage Site QA in conjunction with the QA Manager, including setup, management, and closeout of the file.
- Manage the Project Schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager, consulting Engineer, and Client requirements.
- Manage all costs associated with your package, including the team, subcontractors, material deliveries, plant and equipment, variations, and valuations.
- Manage all day-to-day site operations.
- Ensure policies and procedures are included in supply chain contracts and followed closely.
- Manage subcontractor activities, including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Ensure weekly minuted meetings with subcontractors.
- Manage the "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable and distribute all snags to subcontractors.
- Issue direct labor hours and subcontractor hours to the time administrator for tracking centrally.
- Attend Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Coordination Meetings, and Handover Meetings.
- Close out all project items, including Final Account, O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant relocations, and Project Plan, with the support of the site project manager and your project team.
- Issue weekly cost reports, including all orders placed, materials expected, and labor levels.
- Issue internal weekly progress reports rolled up from project supervisors' reports, highlighting progress percentage complete based on WBS codes and any concerns. Highlight any risk elements within the control of the company, e.g., late deliveries.
- Issue external weekly progress reports to the project manager, highlighting areas not available, delays, shortage of design, third-party hold-ups, and percentage complete.
- Schedule material deliveries to correspond with the project schedule and track all deliveries.
- Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
- Perform all other duties associated with the role.
Mechanical Project Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A trade and/or relevant third-level qualification
- Minimum 5 years previous experience in Project Management
- Proven record of coordinating and managing large installation projects
- Experience dealing with Industrial Relations issues
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
- Experience in design and build
- Good technical knowledge of both Electrical and Mechanical systems
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well within strict deadlines
- Ability to drive a large-scale project
