Mechanical Project Manager — Role Overview
This Mechanical Project Manager role is crucial for coordinating and managing all mechanical aspects of projects. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and supervisors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Mechanical Project Manager — Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will:
- Manage site safety in conjunction with the project team and Safety Advisor, including setting up, managing, and closing out the safety file.
- Lead a team of engineers and supervisors, coordinating with other disciplines to prevent schedule impacts or delays.
- Manage site QA, specifically for the mechanical package, including file setup, management, and closeout.
- Manage the project schedule in conjunction with the project team, consulting engineer, and client requirements.
- Manage all project-related costs, including labor, material, plant and equipment, variations, and valuations.
- Manage all day-to-day site operations.
- Manage subcontractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels, ensuring weekly meetings.
- Manage the "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists.
- Issue direct labor and subcontractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking.
- Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings.
- Close out all project items, including final accounts, O&M manuals, punch lists, safety files, QA files, material and plant relocations, and project plans, with support from the project team.
- Upload to the project Filekey system, with support from the project QS, providing a weekly progress report rolled up from project supervisors' reports, highlighting progress, concerns, and risk elements.
- Issue a weekly internal progress report to the Project Manager, highlighting areas not available, delays, design shortages, third-party hold-ups, and percentage completion, for incorporation into the external project report.
- Ensure all subcontractor documentation, including safety documentation, is maintained and filed.
- Issue weekly safety stats and project labor projections.
- Hold weekly commercial meetings with the commercial team to capture all variations and issue costs to the client.
- Ensure all internal and external KPIs are achieved.
- Develop and implement company procedures with your team.
- Ensure change management is handled correctly (Cost & Programme).
- Perform all other duties associated with this role.
Mechanical Project Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- A trade background with a third-level qualification.
- A proven record of coordinating on projects.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and MS Project.
- Flexibility to travel around Ireland if required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment.
- Ability to drive a large-scale project.
- A construction background.
