Electrical Construction Manager — Role Overview
This Electrical Construction Manager role is critical to the successful delivery of electrical aspects of complex construction projects. The successful candidate will manage site operations, project costs, and subcontractor activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Electrical Construction Manager — Responsibilities
As Electrical Construction Manager, you will:
- Manage site safety in conjunction with the project team and safety advisor, including the set-up, management, and close-out of the safety file.
- Manage site QA in conjunction with the QA Manager, including file setup, management, and close-out.
- Manage the project schedule in conjunction with the project team and Project Manager.
- Manage and track all project-related costs, including labor, materials, plant and equipment, variations, and valuations.
- Manage all day-to-day site operations.
- Directly manage the project team, aligning all discipline leads to project goals.
- Manage subcontractor activities, tracking progress against the schedule and staffing levels, and ensure weekly meetings are held.
- Manage the "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists.
- Ensure direct labor hours and subcontractor hours are reported for central tracking.
- Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings.
- Assist with the close-out of all project items, including final accounts, O&M manuals, punch lists, safety files, QA files, material and plant relocations, and project plans.
- Contribute to the internal weekly progress report, highlighting progress, concerns, and risk elements.
- Review the weekly progress report, highlighting delays, design shortages, and third-party hold-ups.
- Drive the culture of safety and quality throughout the project.
- Provide safety and quality leadership.
- Ensure all subcontractor documentation is maintained and filed.
- Record weekly safety stats and project labor projections.
- Ensure weekly commercial meetings are held to capture variations and issue costs to the client.
- Develop and implement company procedures with package managers.
- Ensure change management is handled correctly (cost and program).
- Perform all other duties associated with this role.
Electrical Construction Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Good knowledge of the full design and construction process
- Ability to control and manage people and programs
- A trade background or a relevant third-level qualification
- Proven record of coordinating and managing large projects
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as an Electrical Construction Manager
Essential Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment
- Ability to drive a large-scale project
- A construction background
- Computer skills - Windows, MS Office, and MS Project
