EHS Lead — Role Overview
As EHS Lead, you will ensure adherence to safety management systems and relevant legislation across the project. You will contribute to a safe working environment by coordinating risk assessments, conducting site audits, and providing safety input to site management.
EHS Lead — Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Adhering to the project and the employer's Safety Management System.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions and legislation.
- Adhering to the employer's Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.
- Coordinating the development of task-specific Method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permit to work systems.
- Monitoring compliance with the project execution plan.
- Coordinating project safety indicators.
- Managing and maintaining good safety practices.
- Conducting ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments and managing control of hazardous substances.
- Ensuring that safety interventions are completed and registered.
- Carrying out regular site audits and inspections, documenting results, and following up on any corrective actions.
- Maintaining records of statutory inspections for project activities, tools, and plant.
- Providing safety input to site management and at site EHS forums.
- Ensuring project sub-contractors adhere to project and group EHS policies and procedures.
- Coordinating, managing, and maintaining the employer's induction and training programs.
- Managing project PPE resources and availability.
- Compiling and delivering Toolbox talks as necessary.
- Assisting with or carrying out accident investigation reports in a timely manner and ensuring communication to project management.
- Ensuring welfare and hygiene facilities are in place, managed, and maintained.
- Liaising with site Project Management on environmental, health, and safety issues.
- Ensuring up-to-date documentation is included with the Safety File.
- Maintaining waste reduction and recycling programs in line with project policies and procedures.
EHS Lead — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety.
- 7+ years’ experience of managing environmental, health, and safety on large construction sites.
- Experience working on Data Centres.
- 5+ years managing a team of EHS advisors.
- Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health, and safety legislation.
- Strong communication & computer skills.
- The ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Close attention to detail.
- Good team-working skills.
