Commissioning Lead — Role Overview
You will own the complete commissioning lifecycle—from early design review through Integrated Systems Testing to final client handover. This is a high-visibility leadership position coordinating multiple vendors, subcontractors, and critical systems in a live operational environment.
Commissioning Lead — Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the integrated MEP commissioning programme, aligning Mechanical and Electrical milestones with overall project delivery
• Lead commissioning of critical systems: LV/MV/HV electrical, switchgear, UPS, generators, protection systems, HVAC, chilled water, pumps, controls, fire protection, fuel oil, and process water
• Provide strategic oversight of commissioning risks, interfaces, and dependencies, proactively mitigating programme and technical impacts
• Act as primary commissioning interface with vendors, subcontractors, and client representatives
• Plan, manage, and attend Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, Factory Witness Tests, and Integrated Systems Testing
• Chair daily, weekly, and milestone commissioning meetings, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and action closure
• Oversee preparation, review, and approval of all commissioning documentation: test scripts, method statements, compliance statements, commissioning dossiers, and handover packages
• Ensure all works comply with EHS, QA/QC, and AP requirements during energisation and live system testing
• Prepare and issue weekly progress reports highlighting risks, constraints, and mitigation measures to senior project management
Commissioning Lead — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification with significant commissioning leadership experience
• 10+ years' commissioning experience in construction environments with extensive MEP focus on large-scale projects
• Proven track record leading commissioning on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical facilities
• Strong working knowledge of LV, MV, and HV electrical systems and testing & verification
• Demonstrated expertise in mechanical systems commissioning and controls integration
• Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and phased energisation strategies
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple vendors, and coordinate complex interfaces
• Strong programme management, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills
• Calm, authoritative leadership style suited to high-pressure, live operational environments
