Commissioning Engineer — Role Overview
You will own the end-to-end commissioning supervision for all electrical vendors, ensuring compliance, driving programme milestones, and delivering the documentation trail required for final sign-off. This is a critical path role where your technical decisions directly influence project success.
Commissioning Engineer — Responsibilities
• Supervise all electrical vendor commissioning activities, ensuring scope compliance and delivery against programme milestones
• Monitor and report on commissioning programme progress, communicating deadlines and critical path items to internal teams and vendors
• Organise and lead daily/weekly commissioning meetings with vendors and project stakeholders
• Attend and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests for electrical equipment
• Produce and maintain weekly vendor progress reports for commissioning management
• Coordinate with QAQC and AP departments to align commissioning activities with project objectives
• Track, review and secure approval of commissioning documentation including test scripts, compliance statements and verification records
• Execute commissioning tagging processes and lead day-to-day on-site commissioning operations
• Ensure all vendor activities meet approved project documentation and quality standards
Commissioning Engineer — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Electrical Trade (NVQ or equivalent) with supporting training
• Minimum 5 years' commissioning experience within construction, preferably on commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical or data centre projects
• Proven experience with LV/MV or HV systems commissioning
• Minimum 3 years' electrical testing and verification experience
• Solid construction background with safety awareness and site-based problem-solving capability
Desirable:
• Process-driven mindset with experience of EHS and Quality Work Management Systems
• Analytical approach with decisive action under pressure
