Senior EHS Advisor — Role Overview
As Senior EHS Advisor, you will be responsible for implementing and managing the EHS system on site, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and the company's EHS standards. You will work closely with the project management team to create a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel and subcontractors.
Senior EHS Advisor — Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Implementing, complying with, and managing the safety management system on site, ensuring a consistent approach across all projects.
- Implementing, complying with, and managing relevant environmental, health & safety statutory provisions & legislation.
- Implementing, complying with, and managing project-specific EHS plans.
- Coordinating the development of task-specific method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
- Managing project safety indicators and ensuring good safety practices are maintained.
- Conducting COSHH assessments and managing hazardous substances.
- Participating in the onboarding and management of subcontractors, including regular audits.
- Issuing NCRs to subcontractors for EHS violations.
- Conducting regular site audits and inspections, documenting results, and following up on corrective actions.
- Ensuring project subcontractors adhere to project and group EHS policies and procedures.
- Attending project-related EHS meetings.
- Spending 70-80% of your time on site, guiding and educating the workforce on EHS matters.
- Ensuring EHS induction and training is coordinated and managed.
- Compiling and delivering toolbox talks.
- Managing welfare and hygiene facilities on site.
- Liaising with project and client management on EHS issues.
- Implementing and maintaining waste reduction, recycling, sustainability, and wellness programs.
Senior EHS Advisor — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- HETAC Level 8 (H-Dip or Degree) qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety.
- Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation.
- Previous experience in Construction Operations.
- Strong communication & computer skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Desirable:
- Professional certification.
- Second language for the region of work.
- Good Leadership Qualities.
- Strong when dealing with contractor management / GC Management.
- Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
- Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health and safety issues on site.
- Close attention to detail
- Good team-working skills
