Senior Construction Manager — Role Overview

As Senior Construction Manager, you will oversee project direction, ensuring construction work meets client specifications. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining site safety and coordinating subcontractor activities.

Senior Construction Manager — Responsibilities

As Senior Construction Manager, you will:

  • Assist in the management of Site Safety in conjunction with the project team and safety management.
  • Supervise project direction, track progress, and ensure construction work meets client specifications.
  • Review project timelines and update the Project Manager and Project Director on progress and deviations.
  • Manage safe access and egress to all areas of the project.
  • Ensure temporary lighting, water supply, and power are in place and maintained.
  • Maintain a 360-degree walkway, adapting it as site needs require.
  • Issue weekend and late working rosters to the site team.
  • Monitor rotations ensuring suitable supervision is in place.
  • Ensure Logistics Manager chairs and records minutes of weekly logistics meetings.
  • Keep a clear and accurate daily diary of all activities and a daily photographic log on BIM 360.
  • Organize the selection of construction plant/materials and ensure subcontractors have the necessary equipment.
  • Own and chair all DAB’s and Whiteboard meetings and issue reports.
  • Attend and liaise with the Project Planner at all collab planning meetings.
  • Play a lead role in the management of Site QA.
  • Support the oversight of all day-to-day site operations.
  • Manage all subcontractor interfaces to ensure there are no gaps or impediments to their works.
  • Meet daily with the Logistics Manager & Multiservice Gang for effective coordination.
  • Ensure cranes, plant, equipment, and deliveries are strategically positioned.
  • Manage sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels.
  • Liaise with all Municipality Personnel and ensure a log is kept of visits and issues raised.
  • Act as the main point of contact between the company and the Client Operations Team.
  • Attend relevant meetings between client/client representatives & PM/Operations.
  • Ensure weekly minuted meetings with sub-contractors and package owners.
  • Ensure all permits/SOPs are in place ahead of construction activities.
  • Oversee construction workers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the management of the “In Progress” snagging system.
  • Ensure direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours are reported for tracking.
  • Ensure the warehouse/off site storage is maintained correctly.
  • Ensure the site is clean, secure, and presented well.
  • Ensure that no phase of the works is held up due to building not being weathertight.
  • Drive the culture of safety and quality through the project.
  • Assist in projected labour projections from the field supervisors.
  • Assist with the commercial team to ensure all variations are captured.

Senior Construction Manager — Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Senior Construction Manager
  • Strong knowledge of the full design and construction process
  • Ability to control and manage people and programs
  • A trade background or a relevant third-level qualification
  • A proven record of coordinating and managing large projects
