Senior Buyer — Role Overview
This Senior Buyer internship will focus on the procurement of materials, goods, and services for assigned projects. The successful candidate will contribute to optimizing cost, quality, and service delivery through strategic sourcing and efficient buying processes.
Senior Buyer — Responsibilities
As a Senior Buyer Intern, you will:
- Manage the procurement to pay process from sourcing to invoice clearance.
- Conduct complex bid processes for equipment, materials, and/or services and do commercial evaluations.
- Write Procurement Project Execution Plans.
- Create Procurement Schedules with project teams and planning function.
- Secure the quality and timely delivery of goods and/or services required for assigned projects.
- Negotiate vendor alliances, rebate agreements, and master service agreements.
- Assist in the reallocation or disposal of excess materials.
- Create internal reports and conduct external reporting.
- Mentor and potentially lead junior procurement personnel.
- Identify new supplier sources and recommend new sourcing strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, such as project and engineering teams.
- Coordinate the logistics of goods and services required for assigned projects.
- Work with other buyers to eliminate wasteful processes.
- Assist in proposals support when required.
- Follow the Authority Matrix stringently.
Senior Buyer — Ideal Candidate
Essential Criteria:
- Must have construction buying experience (M&E) in the pharma industry.
- Experience in a similar role within an engineering or construction company.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Minimum of 6 years’ work experience in a similar role.
- Ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
- Previous ERP experience.
- A third level qualification preferably in supply chain or other related discipline.
- Role will be initially based in Belgium; however, this role will also be required to work / base in other European Countries to meet business needs.
Desirable Criteria:
- Some Technical Knowledge of the Construction Industry would be an advantage.
- A third level qualification preferably in supply chain, engineering, or other related discipline.
- Results-driven with project management skills.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and resilience – being able to adjust positively to situations that involve changing tasks and/or location, shifting priorities or ambiguity.
