Senior Authorised Person — Role Overview
As the Senior Authorised Person, you will be the lead electrical authority on the project. You'll be accountable for implementing and managing electrical safety rules, ensuring adherence to safe systems of work across a portfolio of data centres.
Senior Authorised Person — Responsibilities
As Senior Authorised Person, you will:
- Manage live or potentially live systems under your control.
- Manage, audit, and enforce control of hazardous energies procedures, including lock out tag out.
- Identify electrical hazards and implement mitigation measures.
- Manage and operate the access control system, approving and cancelling Electrical Safety Permits.
- Implement SOPs, jurisdictional requirements, client requirements, and project-specific ESSOWs.
- Ensure team members are competent through training and monitoring.
- Plan and execute safe electrical energisations, isolations, and switching.
- Escalate safety breaches to the Person in Charge of the Electrical Installation and Senior Engineer.
- Ensure periodic inspection and auditing are completed.
- Review and approve electrical safety-related risk assessments and method statements.
- Assist in electrical incident investigations.
Senior Authorised Person — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Qualified electrician awarded the National Craft Certificate (or equivalent).
- Electrical award equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Completed jurisdictional training in Verification, Testing and Certification and a recognised switching course at HV/MV and LV (within the last two years).
- Conversant with jurisdictional regulations.
- Competent in pre and post connection electrical testing and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with equipment including main panels, ACBs, MCCBs, MCBs, RCBOs, VSDs, MCCs, busbar, sub distribution boards and final circuits.
- Ability to interpret SLDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and vendor manuals.
- Experience managing work and safety precautions across control boundaries.
- Experience performing / supervising advance cable works including phasing, testing, identifying.
- Experience in testing and verification of HV/ MV and LV systems.
- 10-15 years' experience managing large installation projects and sub-contractors.
- Completed high voltage authorised person training course in last 2 years.
- Completed low voltage authorised person training course in last 2 years.
- In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety and Quality compliance.
- Excellent technical knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical systems.
- Excellent IT and communication skills.
