Senior Authorised Person — Role Overview
As the Senior Authorised Person, you will be the lead electrical authority on site, responsible for implementing and managing electrical safety rules across a portfolio of data centres. Your expertise will ensure a safe system of work is consistently adhered to.
Senior Authorised Person — Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Managing live or potentially live electrical systems.
- Managing, auditing, and enforcing control of hazardous energies procedures, including lock out tag out.
- Identifying electrical hazards and implementing mitigation measures.
- Managing and operating the access control system and Electrical Safety Permit System.
- Implementing standard operating procedures, jurisdictional requirements, and project-specific ESSOWs.
- Planning and executing safe electrical energisations, isolations, and switching.
- Escalating safety breaches or non-compliance issues.
- Ensuring periodic inspection and auditing are completed.
- Reviewing and approving electrical safety-related risk assessments and method statements.
- Assisting in electrical incident investigations.
Senior Authorised Person — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- A suitable electrical award, equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Qualified electrician awarded the National Craft Certificate or equivalent.
- Completed jurisdictional training in Verification, Testing and Certification and a recognised switching course at HV/MV and LV in previous two years.
- Conversant with arc flash risk, hazard identification and mitigation measures, including electrical safety PPE.
- Experience managing work and safety precautions across control boundaries.
- Experience performing / supervising advance cable works including phasing, testing, identifying.
- Experience in testing and verification of HV/ MV and LV systems.
- 10 - 15 years previous experience managing large installation projects and sub-contractors.
- Completed high voltage authorised person training course in last 2 years
- Completed low voltage authorised person training course in last 2 years
- In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety and Quality compliance
- Excellent technical knowledge of Electrical systems
- Excellent IT and communication skills
- Ability to work well within strict deadlines
- Be fully conversant with the National Rules for Electrical Installations for the jurisdiction
Desirable:
- Experienced in design and build
- Knowledge of Mechanical systems
- Any specific jurisdictional qualifications
