Quantity Surveyor — Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of commercial delivery for a critical data centre development, with full ownership of cost management from procurement through final account. You will drive value engineering, negotiate with tier subcontractors, and shape project profitability.
Quantity Surveyor — Responsibilities
• Procure subcontract packages and critical work elements alongside the senior project team
• Generate quantified work packages, ITTs and budgets from technical documents
• Analyse and present tender returns to support award decisions
• Prepare and negotiate subcontract documents through to agreement
• Manage commercial performance of multiple packages: monthly payments, variations, claims and final accounts
• Monitor costs and financial entitlement continuously across assigned projects
• Engage actively with clients, subcontractors, designers and internal stakeholders
• Submit contractually compliant commercial documentation and external valuations
• Negotiate variations, omissions and final accounts professionally and promptly
• Produce regular cost/value and cash flow reports
• Proactively resolve commercial conflicts before escalation
• Supervise and mentor junior commercial team members
Quantity Surveyor — Ideal Candidate
Essential
• Relevant degree with 5+ years' quantity surveying experience
• Proven track record managing multiple subcontract packages
• Strong technical understanding of building construction and processes
• Familiarity with various methods of measurement
• Excellent budgeting and financial forecasting skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Demonstrated ability to build productive business relationships
Desirable
• Experience with Buildsoft, CostX or similar estimating software
• Previous data centre or mission-critical facility experience
