Project Manager — Role Overview
This Project Manager role is critical to the successful delivery of data centre projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of project execution, from initial planning to final close-out, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Project Manager — Responsibilities
As Project Manager, you will:
- Identify and manage project risks to deliver projects within stakeholder expectations.
- Meet key performance indicator (KPI) targets, including financial metrics, cash management, Healthy & Safety, Quality & Environmental.
- Oversee profit & loss for projects and deliver results as per set targets.
- Monitor financial performance and participate in monthly operating report meetings.
- Ensure standards are met with regard to culture, health & safety, quality, environment, security and integrity.
- Liaise with key Project Stakeholders to deliver all aspects of assigned projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Develop Project Execution strategies, specifically with respect to QEHS standards.
- Develop site logistics (demobilisation / mobilisation) plans.
- Develop and implement Project Schedules in accordance with key milestones, coordinating with all trades and other works.
- Develop and Track Project Labour Histograms including weekly project indicators.
- Develop and implement Project costs and budget plans.
- Review, sign-off and implement Project Quality plans and procedures.
- Review, sign-off and implement Project EHS Management plan.
- Manage and motivate Project construction and Engineering teams.
- Develop and agree submission and approvals process with client / design consultants.
- Develop and monitor material procurement schedules in accordance with schedule requirements.
- Select and appoint Project Sub-contractors and Supply chain in conjunction with Project teams and specifications
- Chair weekly internal team, supplier and sub-contractor meetings to co-ordinate and ensure project performance.
- Oversee Project cost / revenue control and report performance and issue weekly reports on same.
- Attend client / project management meetings.
- Liaise with Sub-contractor and supplier senior management at steering group level.
- Maintain ongoing liaison with Client Design teams and building contractor teams.
- Develop and implement test and commissioning procedures
- Ensure prompt Project close-out and delivery of key documentation (O&M’s, QA close-out, etc).
- Agree project commercial close-out (Internal and External Final accounts)
- Develop and implement corrective action plans where appropriate and necessary.
- Comply with Code of Conduct.
Project Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Project Manager position.
- Professional project management qualifications or a trade qualification.
- Detailed understanding and experience of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre environment, including Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS Systems, Battery Banks, ATS/STS Units, PDU Units, Air Handling Units, Chilled Water Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, and Fire Suppression Systems (pre-action sprinklers).
- Understanding all the associated safety code related requirements relative to providing the service.
- Experience in Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Control Measures.
- Experience in vendor management.
- Experience in Project Management principles & delivering DC project upgrade works.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent motivational and influencing skills, with high levels of personal integrity.
- Ability to communicate technical and business problems in a non-technical manner.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment.
- Willingness to travel and work abroad as required.
