Mechanical Lead — Role Overview

As Mechanical Lead, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the mechanical package on a major project. You will manage site safety, QA, project schedules, and costs, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Mechanical Lead — Responsibilities

As Mechanical Lead, you will:

  • Manage site safety in conjunction with the project team and Safety Advisor, including setting up, managing, and closing out the safety file.
  • Manage site QA, specifically regarding the mechanical package, including setting up, managing, and closing out the file.
  • Manage the project schedule in conjunction with the project team, consulting engineer, and client requirements.
  • Manage all costs associated with the mechanical package, including the mechanical team, subcontractors, material deliveries, plant and equipment, variations, and valuations.
  • Mentor junior members of the team, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure the procurement person has a full buy-out schedule in place and that all materials and equipment are purchased and delivered on schedule.
  • Manage all day-to-day site operations.
  • Manage subcontractor activities, including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels.
  • Manage the "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists.
  • Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings.
  • Close out all project items, including final account, O&M manuals, punch list, safety file, QA file, material and plant relocations, and project plan.

Mechanical Lead — Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A trade and/or relevant third-level qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience in Project Management
  • A proven record of coordinating and managing large installation projects
  • Experience dealing with Industrial Relations issues
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Experience in design and build
  • Good technical knowledge of both Mechanical and Electrical systems
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well within strict deadlines
  • Ability to drive a large-scale project
