Mechanical Engineer — Role Overview
This site-based Mechanical Engineer position drives technical delivery from tender through to commissioning. You will coordinate design, procurement, and installation of mechanical systems while managing commercial performance and client relationships on a flagship data centre development.
Mechanical Engineer — Responsibilities
- Oversee technical project delivery including tender documentation review, plant and material selection, and submittals management
- Coordinate services integration with contractors to ensure clash-free installation
- Prepare method statements and risk assessments for all construction activities
- Complete HVAC deliverables within strict project and safety criteria
- Sequence pipework installation with the project team to meet programme milestones
- Validate project commercially from estimating handover through full technical procurement of equipment and specialist subcontractors
- Manage installation works to consistent high standards, driving programme through to final commissioning and handover
- Document and cost changes to work scopes, prepare monthly valuations and final account
- Maintain direct client communications and design management throughout project lifecycle
Mechanical Engineer — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineer role within a mechanical and electrical contracting environment
- Proven design management experience on building services projects
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
Desirable:
- Data centre or critical environment project experience
- HVAC systems specialisation
- Commercial project management exposure
