Mechanical Engineer — Role Overview
This Mechanical Engineer will drive technical project delivery for major data centre construction, managing HVAC systems, procurement, and installation coordination from tender review through final handover. You will be the technical anchor ensuring mechanical services integrate seamlessly with wider project delivery.
Mechanical Engineer — Responsibilities
• Oversee technical project delivery including tender documentation review, plant and material selection, and submittals management
• Coordinate services integration with contractors to ensure mechanical systems fit within overall design
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for all construction activities
• Deliver complete HVAC scope within project parameters and safety criteria
• Sequence pipework installation through direct communication with project teams to meet programme dates
• Validate projects commercially from estimating handover through full technical procurement of equipment, specialist subcontractors and suppliers
• Manage installation works to maintain consistent high standards and drive programme through to final commissioning and handover
• Document and cost scope changes, prepare monthly valuations and manage final account processes
• Maintain design management oversight throughout project lifecycle
Mechanical Engineer — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Proven Mechanical Engineer experience within mechanical and electrical contracting environment
• Demonstrable design management experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Strong commercial awareness with ability to validate projects and manage procurement cycles
Required Skills:
• Excellent organisation, communication and time management capabilities
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
• Ability to coordinate complex services integration across multi-disciplinary teams
