Mechanical Construction Manager — Role Overview
You will take ownership of mechanical construction delivery on large-scale data centre builds, managing HVAC installations, subcontractor coordination, and commercial accountability from procurement through final account. This is a hands-on leadership position with direct client interface and full site responsibility.
Mechanical Construction Manager — Responsibilities
• Lead all mechanical construction activities on major data centre projects, ensuring HVAC deliverables meet programme, quality, and safety requirements
• Prepare and implement method statements and risk assessments for mechanical construction operations
• Sequence and coordinate mechanical installations including pipework systems to achieve milestone dates
• Manage commercial accountability from estimating handover through technical procurement, subcontractor appointment, and supplier management
• Document and cost scope changes, prepare monthly valuations, and contribute to final account settlement
• Develop and monitor two-week look-ahead programmes in collaboration with the project team
• Plan, mobilise, and maintain labour resources aligned with programme demands
• Drive subcontractor performance and workmanship standards on site
• Identify, document, and formally notify all variations and delays to project management
• Verify plant and materials against specifications, ensuring safe coordination, storage, and handling
• Maintain full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and governance requirements
Mechanical Construction Manager — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Proven experience as Mechanical Construction Manager or similar role within M&E contracting environment
• Strong organisational, communication, and time management capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple work fronts in fast-paced, deadline-driven site conditions
Desirable:
• Data centre construction experience
• Commercial acumen with exposure to valuations, variations, and final accounts
