Mechanical Commissioning Engineer — Role Overview
This position sits at the core of project delivery, executing mechanical commissioning protocols for HVAC and critical mechanical systems. You will ensure systems perform to design intent across testing, diagnostics, and functional performance validation—directly enabling facility handover and operational readiness.
Mechanical Commissioning Engineer — Responsibilities
• Execute mechanical commissioning protocols including system testing, fault-finding, diagnostics, and functional performance testing
• Carry out hands-on commissioning activities in line with approved plans and procedures
• Ensure HVAC and mechanical services operate to design intent, specifications, and performance criteria
• Witness and support vendor commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with project documentation
• Conduct day-to-day on-site commissioning operations, including system inspections and readiness checks
• Manage commissioning tagging process and track documentation compliance to achieve Cx level sign-off
• Support quality management for on-site service and commissioning activities
• Deliver commissioning activities to project schedules and milestones
• Maintain strict adherence to HSEQ requirements
• Communicate effectively with commissioning managers, vendors, and project stakeholders
Mechanical Commissioning Engineer — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or recognised Mechanical Trade with appropriate training
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role
• Strong commissioning experience on HVAC and mechanical systems within commercial, industrial, or data centre environments
• Solid understanding of construction environments and safe systems of work
• Process-driven mindset with strong focus on EHS and Quality Management Systems
Desirable:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to act decisively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to maintain positive working relationships with contractors and vendors on site
