Materials Controller — Role Overview
This Materials Controller role is crucial for ensuring the efficient management of project materials, from receipt to issuance. You will contribute to the smooth operation of projects by maintaining accurate records and coordinating with supply chain partners.
Materials Controller — Responsibilities
As a Materials Controller, you will:
- Attend vendor meetings to track equipment manufacture and delivery.
- Monitor order status and review procurement trackers to ensure scheduled delivery dates.
- Receive, measure, identify, verify, and inspect equipment and materials.
- Perform data capture, stock checking, and filing.
- Ensure adherence to material receiving procedures and proper storage techniques.
- Provide an efficient delivery service from the warehouse, maintaining accurate documentation.
- Utilize the company computer system for warehouse management.
- Reconcile stock and ensure traceability of materials issued from the warehouse.
- Record and account for excess/unwanted materials returned from site.
- Liaise with site personnel to resolve delivery discrepancies.
Materials Controller — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
Essential:
- Some Material Control / Supply Chain experience in an Engineering, Procurement, and/or Construction environment (preferred).
- Experience with Material Control / Supply Chain systems (preferred).
- Working toward qualification or coursework in Material Control or Warehouse Management.
- Knowledge of materials delivered and terminology.
- Verbal and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with the site team.
- Attention to detail and strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office and ability to quickly learn procurement and material control systems.
Desirable:
- Ability to maintain performance under pressure.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
