Materials Controller — Role Overview

This Materials Controller role is critical for the successful execution of projects, ensuring materials are managed effectively from receipt to issuance. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of the project by maintaining accurate records, coordinating with vendors, and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Materials Controller — Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Attending vendor meetings to track equipment manufacture and inspection.
  • Tracking order status of materials with the supply chain and reviewing procurement trackers.
  • Receiving, measuring, identifying, verifying, and inspecting equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Performing data capture and participating in stock checking and filing.
  • Ensuring correct procedures for material receiving at the site.
  • Ensuring correct storage techniques for materials, including preservation.
  • Providing an efficient delivery service to the project from the warehouse.
  • Ensuring proper and accurate usage of the company computer system.
  • Ensuring stock reconciliation and traceability of materials issued from the warehouse.
  • Liaising with relevant personnel regarding delivery discrepancies.

Materials Controller — Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Ability to maintain performance under pressure.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Verbal and interpersonal skills for interaction with the site team.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ability to quickly learn procurement and material control system(s).

Desirable:

  • Some Material Control / Supply Chain experience in an Engineering, Procurement, and/or Construction environment.
  • Experience with Material Control / Supply Chain systems.
  • Work toward qualification or coursework in Material Control or Warehouse Management.
  • Knowledge of materials delivered and terminology.
