Logistics Manager — Role Overview
This Logistics Manager role is crucial for ensuring the smooth flow of materials and equipment to the construction site. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of project logistics, working closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and the project team.
Logistics Manager — Responsibilities
As Logistics Manager, you will:
- Strategically plan and manage all project logistics, from suppliers/vendors to transportation and off-loading on site.
- Track site deliveries against the procurement schedule report (PSR) to ensure conformance.
- Coordinate site logistics and traffic management routes for deliveries.
- Hold weekly stakeholder meetings to review site access and egress.
- Engage with designers to ensure road specifications are met.
- Manage site safety in conjunction with the project team, including site setup and safe operation of vehicles.
- Organize and monitor material storage and distribution across the site.
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for plant, equipment, and materials procurement.
- Maintain an up-to-date plant log, including hire/purchase dates, off-hire dates, and repair requirements, using Eida where possible.
- Implement a ticketing system for site deliveries, ensuring no unauthorized access.
- Manage subcontractors, ensuring a workable traffic management plan is maintained.
- Manage costs associated with plant/equipment, ensuring off-hire when not in use.
- Supervise, coach, and train site staff.
Logistics Manager — Ideal Candidate
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a materials/logistics role.
- Previous experience in construction operations.
- Knowledge of international procurement, logistics, and industry practices, laws, and regulations.
- Experience with project planning and implementation.
- SAP Software System experience.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of international procurement.
- SAP experience.
