Energy Marshall — Role Overview
This is a pivotal site-based position commanding the full energy control strategy for a large-scale data centre development. You will orchestrate safe energisation across all voltage levels while coordinating multiple workstreams in a high-stakes, technically complex environment.
Energy Marshall — Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the site energy control strategy for all MEP electrical systems
• Manage safe energisation and de-energisation of LV/MV/HV systems per permits and switching schedules
• Chair daily and weekly energy control meetings, ensuring seamless coordination across MEP, OFCI, commissioning, and GC teams
• Prepare and validate switching plans, method statements, and risk assessments for all electrical works
• Maintain live energy status boards and comprehensive logs of all energised systems
• Coordinate energisation milestones with client and stakeholder representatives
• Enforce Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) compliance across all subcontractors
• Manage energy permits-to-work in conjunction with site EHS and QA/QC teams
• Deliver energy awareness training to site staff and subcontractors
• Interface with commissioning teams on load bank testing, UPS/generator/switchgear energisation, and critical cooling systems
• Contribute to risk registers and ensure mitigations are active for all high-risk electrical activities
Energy Marshall — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• 7–10 years' experience in high-voltage / large-scale electrical projects
• Deep expertise in LV, MV, HV distribution systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and protection systems
• Proven track record in switching operations, isolation procedures, and permit-to-work systems
• Competency in fault-finding, protection coordination, and testing & commissioning
• Hands-on experience with arc flash studies, short circuit calculations, and electrical safety analysis
• Familiarity with BMS/EMS/SCADA systems and ability to interpret control logic and interlocks
• S1 electrical safety qualification (able to work on any voltage) or S2 (up to 1000V)
Desirable:
• Strong understanding of data centre redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N) and switching sequence implications
