Electrical Engineer — Role Overview
This Electrical Engineer role is pivotal in supporting the Electrical Project Manager and ensuring the successful delivery of electrical scope elements on mission-critical projects. The successful candidate will contribute to engineering coordination, site supervision, and testing & commissioning activities.
Electrical Engineer — Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineer, you will:
- Report to the Electrical Project Manager and support the delivery of assigned electrical scope elements.
- Review IFC/design drawings/specs, raise/track RFIs and technical queries, and support BIM coordination.
- Contribute to RAMS/method statements and permit-to-work packages, implement ITPs/ITRs, and maintain safety and QA records.
- Align engineering tasks with the project schedule, prepare take-offs and the Engineering Materials Report (EMR), and track procurement/submittals.
- Oversee installation quality for MV/LV switchgear, busbar trunking, UPS/STS systems, PDUs, earthing/bonding, and cable management.
- Support testing & commissioning activities, including pressure tests, flushing/cleanliness, and functional performance tests.
- Compile and maintain technical submittals/approvals, redlines/as-builts, and O&M inputs.
- Coordinate with CSA/Mechanical/ICT teams, attend technical meetings, and track progress against plan.
- Issue weekly engineering progress and risk updates, and escalate unresolved constraints to the Electrical PM.
- Ensure compliance with DIN VDE 0100 (IEC 60364) and EN/IEC 61439 standards.
Electrical Engineer — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An engineering qualification or Construction Management qualification
- An Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with 5–8 years’ experience on large installation projects (mission-critical/data centres advantageous).
- Competence across MV/LV power distribution, UPS/STS systems, busbar trunking, earthing/bonding, EPMS/BMS interfaces, and commissioning workflows.
- Proficiency with BIM/CAD, short‑interval planning inputs, and engineering document control; strong IT skills.
- Working knowledge of DIN VDE 0100/IEC 60364, EN/IEC 61439, DIN 14675; strong safety and QA mindset.
- Effective communication and coordination skills with subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams; ability to prioritise and deliver under schedule constraints.
Desirable:
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate complex interfaces.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and advanced digital tools (Revit, Tekla, Navisworks).
- Experience in sustainability practices (LEED/BREEAM) and embodied carbon considerations.
- Knowledge of German or other European building regulations for international projects.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet strict deadlines.
- Exposure to ISO 19650 CDE workflows and 4D planning tools.
- German language skills and knowledge of local site practices (a plus for Germany-based roles).
- Building automation & controls: align BMS/BACS designs with ISO 16484 and VDI 3814, verify points lists and interfaces with EPMS/BMS.
- Experience with EN 50600 KPIs and energy reporting in data centres.
- Exposure to ISO 19650 CDE workflows and 4D planning tools.
