Electrical Engineer — Role Overview

This Electrical Engineer role is crucial to the successful delivery of a complex construction project. You will manage electrical systems, liaise with key stakeholders, and ensure compliance with design specifications and project schedules.

Electrical Engineer — Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Manage electrical systems under your control.
  • Support engineering requirements by managing and liaising with key project stakeholders.
  • Familiarize yourself with Design/IFC specifications and drawings.
  • Oversee the coordination process to transform design information into installation drawings.
  • Manage site safety and QA in conjunction with project managers and advisors.
  • Manage the project schedule in conjunction with the project manager, consulting engineer, and client requirements.
  • Manage all aspects associated with your package, including the electrical team, subcontractors, material deliveries, plant and equipment, variations, and valuations.
  • Manage day-to-day site operations.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed closely.
  • Manage subcontractor activities, tracking progress and manpower levels.
  • Ensure works are installed according to project specifications and the QA plan.
  • Assist the installation package team to manage quality needs.
  • Manage the "In Progress" snagging system.
  • Issue direct labor and subcontractor hours for tracking.
  • Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, and handover meetings.
  • Close out project deliverables, including final accounts, O&M manuals, and safety files.
  • Issue weekly cost reports and internal/external progress reports.
  • Manage and undertake technical submittals and approvals.
  • Schedule and track material deliveries.
  • Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
  • Prepare subcontract and supplier tender packages.
  • Assess tender returns for technical compliance.
  • Evaluate and promote new engineering practices.
  • Manage BIM priorities and change management.
  • Support and coach junior engineers.

Electrical Engineer — Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience working with a recognized Mechanical/Electrical contractor
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in systems software related to Engineering functions
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Familiarity with Project /Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM process
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Knowledge of modularisation
