Electrical Engineer — Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to manage electrical systems on a key project. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with specifications and project schedules, contributing to the successful delivery of a major construction project.
Electrical Engineer — Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Managing electrical systems under your control.
- Managing Site QA in conjunction with the QA Manager, including setup, management, and closeout of files.
- Issuing weekly cost reports, including orders placed, materials expected, and labor levels.
- Managing Site Safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and Safety Advisor, including the setup, management, and closing out of the safety file.
- Managing the Project Schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager, consulting Engineer, and Client requirements.
- Managing all aspects associated with your package including the electrical team, subcontractors, material deliveries, plant and equipment, variations, and valuations.
- Managing all day-to-day site operations.
- Ensuring policies and procedures are followed closely.
- Managing subcontractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels.
- Ensuring works are installed in accordance with project specifications and the Project QA plan.
- Assisting the Installation Package team to manage quality needs for the project on site.
- Managing the "In Progress" snagging system.
- Issuing direct labor hours and subcontractor hours to the time administrator.
- Attending Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Coordination Meetings, and Handover Meetings.
- Closing out all project deliverables including Final Account, O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant re-locations, and Project Plan.
- Issuing internal and external weekly progress reports.
- Managing and undertaking technical submittals and approvals.
- Scheduling material deliveries and tracking deliveries.
- Maintaining a weekly project photographic diary.
- Preparing Sub-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in conjunction with the Project QS.
- Assessing Sub-contract and Supplier Tender returns for technical compliance.
- Evaluating and promoting the use of new engineering practices and processes.
- Managing BIM priorities.
- Supporting and coaching junior engineers.
Electrical Engineer — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- 5+ years’ experience working with a recognised Mechanical/Electrical contractor
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Proficient in use of systems software related to Engineering functions
- Excellent IT skills
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
Desirable:
- Familiar with Project /Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM process
- Knowledge of modularisation
