Design Engineer — Role Overview
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and layout of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Your contributions will be critical to the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
Design Engineer — Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and laying out fire protection systems to meet LPC/NFPA/FM/VdS criteria.
- Managing all aspects of sprinkler design, including hydraulic calculations and shop drawing preparation.
- Coordinating 3D models with other services.
- Preparing project deliverables, including 2D fire classification block plans and schematics.
- Reviewing and producing detailed fire protection schematics.
- Liaising and coordinating with client team members.
- Creating installation/construction & fabrication drawings.
- Attending technical/project meetings in person and via Teams.
- Assisting with the preparation of technical documentation for tenders and construction.
Design Engineer — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Proficient at communication & written English.
- Ability to read and effectively interpret architectural/engineering plans, schematics, and design drawings.
- Experience in working on European projects.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, 2D AutoCAD and Revit MEP design software such as AutoSPRINK or similar software with a minimum of four years of experience modelling these systems.
- Ability to extract BOQs and fabrication drawings from Revit.
- Ability to perform clash detection using Navisworks and Revit interference check, export clash reports, and review clash reports.
- Must be responsible, pay attention to detail, personable, data-driven, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with solid organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to travel. Full EU driving license required.
- Competent working knowledge of applicable standards.
Desirable:
- Ability to convert documents and communicate in German.
- Previous experience dealing with third parties such as VdS and TUV.
- Knowledge of Autodesk ACC or similar.
- Previous experience using programmes such as Revit / Autosprink / Navisworks.
- Some experience of working on a construction site.
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
- Previous experience working for large mechanical or fire protection company.
- Experience in working on large commercial fire protection systems.
- Management of Project Schedule.
