Commissioning Manager — Role Overview

This Commissioning Manager role is critical to the successful delivery of a large-scale data centre project. You will be responsible for overseeing all commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Commissioning Manager — Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing all commissioning responsibilities on site, including setup, management, and closeout of the commissioning plan.
  • Managing direct reports (commissioning and testing personnel).
  • Managing the Commissioning Tagging process and procedures.
  • Reporting progress on all commissioning activities internally and externally.
  • Chairing weekly commissioning meetings and directing weekly commissioning activities.
  • Hosting the General Contractor and client's weekly commissioning meetings and reporting progress.
  • Developing the project commissioning schedule in conjunction with project planners.
  • Managing "Lock Out – Tag Out" processes and procedures.
  • Managing Area Control Permits for areas under the company's control.
  • Compiling all Testing and Commissioning Documentation, verifying and signing off on results.
  • Managing the Project Commissioning Schedule in conjunction with other trades, Package Leads, consulting engineers, and client requirements.
  • Managing subcontractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and staffing levels.
  • Managing commissioning-related snagging and ensuring timely closeout.
  • Attending site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and co-ordination meetings, and handover meetings.
  • Implementing a weekly look ahead and issuing internal weekly progress reports.
  • Maintaining a weekly project photographic diary.

Commissioning Manager — Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Engineering and at least 5 years’ experience in a commissioning manager role on large-scale industrial projects, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Extensive commissioning knowledge of typical mechanical and electrical systems associated with data centres.
  • A thorough understanding of building regulations and European standards, codes, and practices.
  • Experience managing and executing a full IST, including developing required IST documentation and managing completion on a digital platform.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.
