Commercial Manager — Role Overview
As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the financial oversight and risk management of construction projects. You will collaborate with project teams, procurement, and finance to ensure projects adhere to budget and contractual obligations.
Commercial Manager — Responsibilities
As Commercial Manager, you will:
- Validate tender and construction budgets to ensure compliance with agreed margins.
- Advise project teams on administration, site instructions, and forecasting.
- Manage the procurement process, ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
- Oversee the generation of internal monthly cost reports.
- Participate in contract and tender reviews to achieve commercially advantageous outcomes.
- Assess and agree on subcontractor and supplier variations.
- Manage the preparation and submission of interim payment certificates.
- Manage insurance needs and settlements for construction projects.
- Actively manage dispute resolution and claims.
- Review incoming correspondence to identify contractually critical items.
- Set up and maintain the risk and opportunity management process.
- Nurture relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Monitor and ensure correct procedures are followed on site regarding commercial implications.
- Ensure all contracts are administered correctly, including notices and contractual letters.
Commercial Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a QS/Commercial Management role.
- Experience in a commercial leadership role on large-scale projects/data centres (desirable).
- Previous experience in Construction Operations.
- Professional qualification in quantity surveying or experienced engineer with commercial responsibilities.
- Good level of legal awareness and competence in assessing Contract Documents and contract requirements.
