Commercial Manager — Responsibilities
As Commercial Manager, you will:
- Validate tender and construction budgets to ensure margin compliance.
- Advise project managers on administration, labor allowances, and forecasting.
- Manage the procurement process from inception to completion.
- Oversee the generation of monthly cost reports and reviews.
- Liaise with the Business Unit Finance Department.
- Participate in contract and tender reviews to achieve advantageous outcomes.
- Assess and agree on subcontractor and supplier variations.
- Ensure compliance with the contract program/schedule.
- Manage the preparation and submission of interim payment certificates.
- Manage project insurance needs and settlements.
- Actively manage dispute resolution and claims.
- Review incoming correspondence to identify critical contractual items.
- Manage project cash flow in conjunction with the Finance Department.
- Ensure the project team complies with internal procedures.
- Setup and maintain the risk and opportunity management process.
- Nurture relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Mentor commercial staff and management.
- Make recommendations on commercial and contract issues.
- Monitor site procedures related to commercial implications.
- Ensure correct administration of contracts, including notices and letters.
Commercial Manager — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent (e.g., engineering) combined with commercial experience.
- Minimum 5+ years’ post-qualification experience with a General Contractor.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Excellent IT skills (SAP experience is an advantage).
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Excellent English language skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Data centre experience.
- CSA and MEP experience.
