Civil Engineer — Role Overview

This Civil Engineer role is crucial for managing the CSA package and ensuring site safety and quality. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of day-to-day site activities and subcontractor management.

Civil Engineer — Responsibilities

As a Civil Engineer, you will:

  • Manage the CSA package.
  • Manage Site Safety in conjunction with the project manager and the Safety Advisor, including setting up, managing, and closing out the safety file.
  • Manage Site QA regarding CSA works, ensuring a robust system to avoid future issues. Record and document all facets of the works.
  • Manage the Project Schedule in conjunction with the Project manager, consulting Engineer, and Client requirements.
  • Manage all day-to-day site operations.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed closely.
  • Manage sub-contractor activities, including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Attend weekly minuted meetings with sub-contractors.
  • Manage the "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable, and distribute all snags to Sub-contractors.
  • Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours to the time administrator for tracking centrally.
  • Attend Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings, and Handover Meetings.
  • Close out all project items, including O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, and QA File, with the support of the site project manager and project team.
  • Issue internal weekly progress reports to the project manager, highlighting areas not available, delays, shortage of design, third-party hold-ups, and percentage complete.
  • Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.

Civil Engineer — Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with a recognised Mechanical/Electrical contractor

  • Degree Qualification

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Proficient in the use of systems software related to Engineering functions

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work on own initiative
