Civil Engineer — Role Overview
This Civil Engineer role is crucial for managing the CSA package and ensuring site safety and quality. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of day-to-day site activities and subcontractor management.
Civil Engineer — Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer, you will:
- Manage the CSA package.
- Manage Site Safety in conjunction with the project manager and the Safety Advisor, including setting up, managing, and closing out the safety file.
- Manage Site QA regarding CSA works, ensuring a robust system to avoid future issues. Record and document all facets of the works.
- Manage the Project Schedule in conjunction with the Project manager, consulting Engineer, and Client requirements.
- Manage all day-to-day site operations.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed closely.
- Manage sub-contractor activities, including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Attend weekly minuted meetings with sub-contractors.
- Manage the "In Progress" snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable, and distribute all snags to Sub-contractors.
- Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours to the time administrator for tracking centrally.
- Attend Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings, and Handover Meetings.
- Close out all project items, including O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, and QA File, with the support of the site project manager and project team.
- Issue internal weekly progress reports to the project manager, highlighting areas not available, delays, shortage of design, third-party hold-ups, and percentage complete.
- Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
Civil Engineer — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
Minimum 5 years’ experience working with a recognised Mechanical/Electrical contractor
Degree Qualification
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proficient in the use of systems software related to Engineering functions
Excellent IT skills
Ability to manage workload and prioritise
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative
