Civil Design Engineer — Role Overview
Reporting to the CSA Design Manager, you will be a senior member of the Project Team, contributing cross-discipline design and technical expertise to data centre projects. You will manage design packages from initial review through to handover, supporting project deliverables at all stages.
Civil Design Engineer — Responsibilities
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction managers to develop comprehensive project plans.
- Liaise with clients and other 3rd parties as required.
- Develop comprehensive scope-of-works (SoW), task information deliverables list (TIDP), and responsibility matrices (R&R/ RACI) for civil discipline.
- Raise any design-related risks to planning, commercial and management, and establish a course to minimise their impact.
- Maintain accurate records of key design activities and escalate to management as appropriate.
- Assist the Central Engineering and site teams with proactive contributions to construction and team matters.
- Attend design related meetings and provide continual input for optimisation.
- Assist with new tenders and PCSA (pre-construction services agreements) deliverables within the Business Unit.
- Oversee the construction process to ensure adherence to design specifications and schedules.
- Manage the deliverables and approvals processes of design packages to ensure full approval for procurement.
- Conduct site visits and report progress and quality of work.
- Integrate sustainable practices into design and construction processes.
- Prepare detailed reports, and documentation for project approval and permits.
- Manage key registers throughout the project design period (Procurement schedule, Tech Sub register, Drawing register, RFI log, Deviation tracker, Lessons Learnt log, Issues, interface & scope gap trackers, Design change tracker).
- Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams.
- Review and submit technical submittals.
- Undertake other engineering tasks or duties as required.
Civil Design Engineer — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in the Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences or Data Centre sectors.
- In depth knowledge of Statutory Consent Processes, Building Regulations process is essential.
- Demonstrable design, technical and construction knowledge is essential for this role.
- Experience in leading meetings and coordinating with other team members.
- Strong working knowledge of civil design and analysis software such as BIM, Revit, Civil 3D (or equivalent).
