BIM Lead — Role Overview
This BIM Lead role is critical to the successful delivery of complex engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the BIM team, ensuring project deliverables meet agreed schedules and quality standards.
BIM Lead — Responsibilities
As BIM Lead, you will:
- Provide project leadership and direction to the BIM team.
- Develop coordinated 3D mechanical & electrical models from base information (Base Design, P&IDs, Scan & point cloud data).
- Manage drawing registers and standards.
- Produce GAs, detailing sheets, and prefabrication isometrics.
- Design and detail services support systems.
- Manage gated process milestones of the BIM detailing process.
- Solve coordination and design roadblocks.
- Attend design, client, and site meetings.
- Organize and attend alignment meetings with other trade partners.
- Assist in the overall development of BIM protocols, workflows, and systems.
- Train and mentor new entry-level staff.
- Perform reviews of the BIM team.
- Ensure integration of models into a federated model for overall coordination.
- Provide reports on schedule and progress to senior managers.
- Write technical reports.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance.
- Manage clash detection on all systems.
- Manage variations from identification to commercial recoup.
BIM Lead — Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years’ experience as a BIM Lead.
- A relevant 3rd level Engineering or 3rd level BIM qualification.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Motivation, good communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in reading schematics.
- Knowledge of routing mechanical or electrical systems.
- Good written and verbal English.
- Excellent IT skills.
Desirable:
- Previous Semi-Conductor industry experience.
- Experience in PAS 1192 or ISO 19650.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Fabrication CADMep, Navisworks, BIM360, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx Plant, CADWorx Structure.
