Authorised Person — Role Overview
This Authorised Person internship provides practical experience in electrical safety and commissioning within complex construction environments. The successful candidate will contribute to safe working practices and operational control during the project's commissioning phase.
Authorised Person — Responsibilities
As an Authorised Person intern, you will:
- Become familiar with and enforce relevant SOPs, including Control of Hazardous Energies and Operating/Energisation Procedures.
- Adhere to Permit to Work and Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures.
- Review and approve Sub-Contractor Electrical RAMS.
- Ensure all works are conducted according to client directives.
- Assist with operational control of LOTO systems and safe switching.
- Ensure warning signs are in place and checked.
- Report electrical incidents to SAP and Energy Marshall.
- Identify potential hazards and implement mitigation measures.
- Assist Senior Authorised Persons with internal audits.
Authorised Person — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Qualified electrician with National Craft Certificate or equivalent.
- Electrical award equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Understanding of SLDs, Wiring Diagrams, and schematics.
- Understanding of EN and local code Regulations.
- Familiarity with local jurisdictional electrical regulations.
- Experience with Verification, Testing and Certification (where required by jurisdiction).
- Ability to inspect, commission, and troubleshoot control systems and power circuits.
- Knowledge of testing equipment and procedures (Insulation Resistance, Point to Point, grounding).
- Successful completion of colour vision test.
