Authorised Person — Role Overview
The Authorised Person will be the electrical safety gatekeeper for all energised working activities, ensuring strict compliance with High Voltage Safety Rules and Electrical Safe Systems of Work across the project lifecycle.
Authorised Person — Responsibilities
You will:
• Engage from project inception with Site Management to implement the agreed Electrical Safe Systems of Work Procedure under Lead Appointed Person direction
• Ensure all workplace personnel understand and comply with electrical safety protocols
• Issue and control Permits for all energised working activities within your scope
• Review and interpret project specifications and drawings to extract specific electrical requirements
• Follow strict operational procedures and adhere to High Voltage Safety Rules
• Interpret basic electrical protection under fault conditions
• Complete safety documentation and execute lock out/tag out procedures and philosophies
• Review switchgear distribution topology and controls prior to system start-up
• Support and liaise with specialist Testing & Commissioning contractors on early reviews, commissioning sequences and test scripts
• Coordinate with Control System providers (SCADA/BMS/EMS) on system handover under permit control schedules and protocols
Authorised Person — Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Relevant third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Electrical Trade with relevant training and experience
• Minimum 5+ years in an Authorised Person or similar role within electrical contracting, with experience across commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical or data centre projects
• Proven experience working on MV/HV systems as an Authorised Person or Appointed Person
• Level S1 (any voltage) or S2 (up to 1000V) competency
• Minimum 3 years' electrical testing and verification experience
• Valid HV Switching Tickets
• Process-driven with strong focus on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems
Desirable:
• Data centre or critical infrastructure project experience
