Authorised Person — Role Overview
This internship provides an opportunity to learn and contribute to the safe execution of electrical works on site. You will support the Senior Authorised Persons in maintaining a compliant and safe electrical environment.
Authorised Person — Responsibilities
As an Authorised Person Intern, you will:
- Become familiar with and enforce relevant SOPs, including Control of Hazardous Energies and Operating and Energisation Procedures.
- Understand and adhere to Permit to Work and Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures.
- Review and approve Sub-Contractor Electrical RAMS.
- Ensure all works are conducted according to client directives.
- Assist with operational control of LOTO systems and safe switching during commissioning.
- Ensure warning signs are in place and checked.
- Report electrical incidents to SAP and Energy Marshall.
- Assist Senior Authorised Persons with internal audits.
Authorised Person — Ideal Candidate
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified electrician with a National Craft Certificate (or equivalent).
- Electrical award equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Understanding of SLDs, Wiring Diagrams, and schematics.
- Understanding of EN and local code Regulations.
- Conversant with local jurisdictional electrical regulations.
- Familiarity with Verification, Testing and Certification procedures.
- Experience with inspecting, commissioning, and troubleshooting control systems and power circuits.
- Ability to perform testing, including Insulation Resistance and Point to Point.
