Appointed Person (Crane) — Role Overview

This senior lifting specialist will take full ownership of crane operations planning and execution across a complex Data Centre build. You will lead a team of Appointed Persons, drive safety culture, and ensure every lift meets stringent regulatory and project standards.

Appointed Person (Crane) — Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the management, organisation, planning, and control of all lifting operations on the project
• Develop, review, approve, and issue Lift Plans for all lifting activities, ensuring statutory compliance and project standards
• Ensure no lifting activities proceed without approved Lift Plans
• Manage and oversee all Appointed Persons under your control, defining roles, authority levels, and areas of responsibility
• Formally appoint APs in writing following competence verification
• Assign mentors to support professional development of newly qualified or less experienced APs
• Provide ongoing support to APs, actively seeking feedback and addressing concerns
• Brief Lift Supervisors and lifting teams on scope, contents, and limitations of each Lift Plan
• Monitor site operations for compliance with approved plans, stopping works where unsafe practices or deviations are identified
• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture aligned with best practice and project objectives

Appointed Person (Crane) — Ideal Candidate

Essential:
• Appointed Person & Crane Supervisor Training Qualification
• Minimum 5+ years' experience in a similar role on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of lifting regulations and standards

Desirable:
• Data Centre or mission-critical facility experience
• Proven track record mentoring and developing lifting teams
